'Just finished an elk hunt (no bulls killed) and my (older) guide was convinced that his outfitter's policy of using UTVs was completely wrong. Now, this wasn't the best guide, by far, that I've had in my life. But, judging by what I saw, I think the little bastard has a point. Has anyone come up with a decent, after-market hush kit? I know Don, by me, has welded on a muffler, but I don't weld and I need a package I can refer to for my Can-Am HD-8. All suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

I just added a 45 degree extension on my mule and it dropped it 6 decimal per my phone.

Biggest thing is not being lead footed. I keep mine under 12 mph and it’s pretty quiet. Driven up on multiple whitetails, mule deer and elk

Besides the muffler a lot of the noise comes from the engine and drive train all being out in the open. I also put heavy rubber mats in the bed and floor board. If there would be someway to isolate the engine and drive train and put sound damping material there it would help a lot. That is one reason pickup diesels are so quiet. Having insulation in the hood and engine compartment.

I hunt out of a Kawasaki Mule Pro FXT if it's above 50 degrees and dry or a Jeep Renegade if it's below 50 and/or raining. It's easy to get twice as close to deer and hogs when I'm in the Jeep as it is when I'm in the Kawasaki. Heck when I'm 20 feet away I can't even hear the Jeep running. It's always annoyed me that UTV mfg can make their vehicles quieter. Back when we were running Kawasaki 3010 models we were able to get exhaust silencers for them and it helped, but I've not been able to find one for the Pro FTX models anywhere.

don k probably has a good point about the insulation around the drive train though, I'm sure it's part of the problem.
