Do antler restrictions still apply? We are looking to apply for MLDP next season and are in an AR County. The tag estimator for our place says 15 “any buck” tags. I cannot seem to find an answer online.
Side note, any drawbacks to getting into the MLDP program? We have 3000 acres.

A game warden can answer the first, and as to the second nope no draw backs. Some folks might not like the records you keep, but they definitely help in taking care of your herd.

No restrictions on MLD in AR counties, just to let you know I witnessed that this weekend in Polk County on a MLD property.

No AR's with MLDP. Drawback is that you only are allowed that many bucks and does you get tags for...you can not use tags off of your license. The program was started to help control numbers and to use all the tags to manage the numbers on a ranch. The MLDP allows for extended hunting seasons also which is a benefit if you are shooting all the deer you have tags for. Don't just use it to shoot trophy bucks, use MLDP to manage the ranch correctly. Read the fine print before you sign off.

You might want to talk with the biologist that is over the county.

The drawback is the biologist may come look at your place and give you a bunch of doe tags but less buck tags than you would normally use with regular state tags. Advantages are no antler restrictions. Ive heard of people going MLD and only being issued a couple buck tags.
I did build a cabin. Aka the brokeback shack.

We are under the Harvest Option for DOE/ANTLERLESS tags only as we were not going to get many ANTLERED (buck) tags. We still have to put up with the AR rules but can hunt till the end of February to take all of our does. We are archery only, so the extra time helps. We use MLDP tags for the doe but our Hunting License tags for antlered/bucks. I would ask lots of questions before I committed to full MLDP. Good luck.
