152-156 depending how long of browtines he has and how much the splits are. With those callused knees I would but no broadside pics...I would call him mature and more of a 6 yr old.

About all I got broadside. He was coming right at me while I took pics. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2020/11/full-45514-266259-2ac75859_29d5_4820_bfee_3526e20a8a24.jpeg)

146 gross and 4.5. His spread hurts him, and net would be lower due to asymmetric rack

Tlew, nets are for ball sports, not hunting sports 😂😂
I am going to say i saw this buck at about 80yards as he was dripping drool licking his chops going rut crazy. We stared at each other for a bit until i decided to move my binos down from my eyes at which point he bolted. He is a nice buck and the pics don't do him justice to the mass he carries through his beams nor to his height. He is longer than appears in the pics. But then again, what do i know, coulda been buck fever too.
All i saw of his body as he ran off told me he was run down from rutting, and didn't notice the knees being so calloused (but honestly I didn't look below his lips). Interestingly, on the quick glance i had of his body before it disappeared in the trees showed me at most 4, but i took that with a grain of salt due to him running and leaping. Agree he is older than 4 for sure.

Looks 5 in a couple pics and 6 in another. 91-93 down 50-52 up 141-145 so I'm going 143
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Haha nets are for fishing you mean He looks like he has great mass in the picture, but his head down shot looks like he is trying to break out of basket buck territory. I'd still take him!

I'd still take him! yeah yeah, you get the point I never was one for clichés, my memory isn't good enough to remember them so I make up new ones and they don't sound as good.

Yep, I definitely get the point. Nets shouldn't take away from anything (ironic when you think about it), and I agree to measure by gross. That said, there is something beautiful about an almost exact net and gross score

I thought I would revive this thread since this buck got killed on my new lease last Tues eve. We killed another one Friday eve and another yesterday eve so more threads to come likely. Feel free to update your estimates and I will give the score later. He field dressed 125 which is light for us and he was run down. He has about a 5" brow thats broke off and behind the split brow if you want to add that in on score.

I think he is mature for sure - however from the very first pic I cannot get him much over 130 -140 but what do I know? - pictures as you know are deceiving but I do not see a much higher score and if he is higher would love to see the measurements - pretty deer though -
You can't fix stupid

Once again I think I've missed on one of your deer here. I think he is at least 8" bigger than I first thought after seeing the dirt nap pic.
I'm think high 140s now and more than likely may break 150. Hell of a buck once again!

I kind of forgot about this thread. There is so much activity in the Deer Hunting section that stuff gets off the first page pretty quick. I owe yall an answer on score. This particular lease(I have two) the deer are just consistently bigger framed and it is throwing yall off on score. Believe me, it has thrown us hunters on the lease off as well. This is a new place and every time a buck hits the ground he has gotten bigger. The buck scores 160. It is really deceiving. Even with the rack in your hands it doesnt seem that big. He certainly looks impressive in your hands but not 160. Hes narrow that always gives a "smaller" impression of size. Hes just got a lot of mass and I think cause its carried into his tines it just throws things off. He also curves in on the tines and the beam so those measurements just seem to keep going. Actually to get to 160 we added back in the 5" brow that was broke. No one ever knows how old a wild deer is but after looking at his teeth and body etc we feel he was 6 or 7. Thanks for playing along guys. Out of the bucks we killed on this place there are still 2 threads out there on trying to score them and ill give answers on them soon.
