Did your doctor prescribe any medication? I tested positive today and my doctor just told me to get some rest. What did you take that helped speed recovery?

Wife, son, and myself all tested positive. Doctor prescribed Prednisone (20mg), Azithromycin (250mg), Amoxicillin (125mg), Vitamin D3 (5000mg), Vitamin C (1000mg), Zinc (50mg), the Zinc is hard to find and had to order it from Amazon.

I agree with Normal, I would get another doctor. Our doctor was not concerned about the fever at all but they were very concerned about the blood oxygen level. Told us to go by a blood oxygen meter from the pharmacy and monitor it hourly and go to the ER if it drops below 90. They told us you can go from feeling good to being in the ER in less than three hours, so don’t ignore it if you start to feel bad.

Mother-in-law and father-in-law, both 70, tested positive on 11/8, both tested negative today. Doctor sent both home with no prescriptions. They bought vitamin C, D3, and Zinc. Said they were tired and felt rundown for 4-5 days. Father-in-law had a cough for a few days but other than that they said the worst thing was being bored at home.

I would think it would depend on your symptoms. Why prescribe medicine for a symptom you don't have?

No medicine. Rest and EmergencC powder. I’m positive that being in good shape and having a strong immune system helped me thru it. Basically don’t be So damn afraid of germs and dirt. A bodies immune system is just like a muscle, it needs to be fed. Exercise, eat the best you can and you stand a better chance of not getting sick or if you do, have a better chance of fighting thru it.

Had a fever, some aches and tired for about 5 days. Taste came back after 6 days and was good to by the 9th day.

Those who have recovered?

So this topic is for 99.2% of us...awesome!

Addendum: I have not had covid. Don't plan on it.
Addendum II: Still praying for all of us on this Earth no matter where we stand.

My brother tested positive and this is what he did..but I can't remember if the instructions came from his Dr, or more likely our cousin who has been head of RN's for decades and she definitely told him to do this since he has COPD and Asthma. He was given medications but I don't know which ones. Fortunately even with his complications he never developed anything other than mild symptoms.

My doc didn’t prescribe anything, but I had no symptoms or than losing taste and smell. He did say if I needed medication he’d prescribe accordingly.

My Dr gave me steroid and antibiotic shots to speed recovery. He also suggested the following to boost the immune system: Zinc 50 mg, B-12 1000 mg, Vit D3 5000 IU, N-Acetly-Cysteine (NAC) 600 mg (works in conjunction with zinc, Vit C 1000 mg. I had all the symptoms but the sinus headache and fatigue were the worst I've ever had. Took about 3 weeks for taste to slowly come back.

Had it, quarantine will be over Wednesday.. Doctor said take zinc, vitamin c, d3 as others have stated above. I'm with Big Fitz, affected my sinus something fierce, that and a small fever , 100.7 was highest, lots of rest. Gutit is also correct, healthy food, and lots of water, stay away from the sugars, as sugar works against the immune system.. Wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving

I wasnt told to take NAC when I was infected back in Feb/Mar, I don't think they had data showing the benefits of NAC at the time but I was told afterwards to start taking NAC along with the Vitamin C, D3 and Zinc I was taking as a prophylactic against infection. My doc said that's what he and the other docs and hospital staff take to reduce the risk of infection.

I had never heard of NAC but did follow Dr's orders. He also warned me about a high sugar intake as it affects the immune system. Never heard that one either.

Wife is a NP and she got it and didn't take anything. Unless you are having serious respiratory issues or feeling really sick then it's treated just like any other virus. Rest and ride it out.

fitz, when I was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago my doc friend (my actual family doc didnt catch it) turned me on to a ton of good data showing high glucose was toxic and caused damage to the body. I started eating a keto based diet he recommended and felt so much better afterwards, I kept doing it.

High glucose causes inflammation and inflammation causes all kinds of problems.

You can get them all in an IV and your body can actually absorb everything, before it washes out digestive track

Doc told me and the family to monitor blood O2 levels. We got it back in July and there was virtually nothing widely known to help other than vitamins. A friend went to go see a dr in castroville (retired military dr) who has great success with high doesages of melatonin. Might want to call that guy. Best of luck and prayers for you and your family.
