Bigger boys now coming out in daylight. Thursday was the 1st day to see mature bucks on cell cam. Saw quite a few on the hoof this weekend. Saw my first scrape Sunday morn. Life is getting ready to be good, real good!

Those south Texas deer are huge. Good luck, Hud.

Nice!

If you find yourself feeling useless, remember it took 20 years, trillions of dollars, and four presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

Sometimes the Universe puts you in the same situation again to see if you’re still a dumbass.

The golden triangle... nice.

Why do you think that area produces? Diet? Genetics?

I knew a guy who had 10 acres low fence in that area(other side of 35), and it produced 150+ bucks for him. He had high fence ranches around him funneling deer through his property. Lucky guy.

Genetics are top notch. 7 years ago, the largest TBGA entry typical for LF in South TX came from or place. That same year, the largest TBGA entry typical for HF in South TX came about 2 miles due south of us. There are a lot of big deer never entered into TBGA, but coincidence of the location speaks volumes.

They used to grow vegetables in these parts. The soil has outstanding nutrition, minerals & such, and with a little rain, the cows stay fat and the deer can get big. Keeping numbers in control only helps. Supplemental feed helps or at least I certainly hope it's worth the cost and especially worth the effort.

STR would know much more about this than myself.
