Ordered a Savage A-17 that's due here today. Any suggestions for a scope? it will be used mainly for target shooting 50-100 yds. Want variable maybe up to 18x? Don't really want any higher. Just don't think I want to deal with the movement of the crosshairs. It's a $400 gun so don't really want to spend much over the cost of the gun.

I have a vortex strike eagle 1x6 x 24 on my A17.
I love it as it lets me use it for fox hunting. It is also solid out to 150 yards.

I think I have a Vortex Diamondback on mine. It also wears a Pulsar thermal for Rabbits

You asking me? If so, yes I switch them out. The thermal has a QD mount so it’s always zeroed as long as I put it on the correct profile. The Diamond back doesn’t have a QD mount but 2-3 quick shots and it back on zero
