Just when I thought I had seen it all.
I was at my brothers place and we were sitting watching the feeder at the camp house. We had about 6 bucks, and fawn doe that was at risk of being molested. The rut is in full swing here.
With about five minutes of legal shooting time left a mature doe comes running in, being chased by a buck. All the bucks want a piece of the action, these guys are running all over the place.
One of the bucks mounts the doe, in about five seconds the doe collapsed under him, like she had been shot. She laid on the ground and kicked around a few times, then just laid there pretty much motionless. We would see a leg kick ever so often.
Bucks kept coming over and jabbing at her trying to get her up. One buck even got down on his knees to try and breed her. These bucks were all riled up chasing each other and stabbing at the downed doe.
It was now too dark to see anything, so we decided to eat dinner and check on the doe later. We were guessing she pooped out and was exhausted.
When we went to check to see if she was still there, she was stone cold dead.

The picture makes her look small, she was a full grown doe. Teeth aged at 6-7 years. The boys beat her up pretty good.

Literally screwed to death! Crazy, and even crazier that you got to witness it.

Like that old joke says, "Last time I do that for 6 bucks."

That is crazy. Maybe she was already sick and weak making her easier to catch?

Bucks can get rough this time of year. Remember a mature 10pt that nailed a doe 7 times that I saw and she tried getting under a cedar but he kept poking her and hitting her with his rack until she got up. for another round. They both looked wore out but he kept going. Saw a video where the hunter shot a doe then a buck trailed in on her and poked several hoes in her trying to get the dead deer ti stand for another round.
