Looking at getting a CMC 3.5 LBS single stage or two stage straight bow trigger for hunting.
What do experts recommend in this case?

I have and like both. My only suggestion is this: stick with one or the other. I wasn't paying attention and have both single and two stage triggers, and I can never quite remember which I've got on which rifle. There's no bad decision, only your preference.

I have come to love that trigger, actually making me think I want straight shoe triggers on everything I own.

Both my ARs have two-stage (RRA) triggers. All my bolt rifles have single stage triggers.

Both my ARs have two-stage (RRA) triggers. All my bolt rifles have single stage triggers. ^^^^^ Same, I like a two stage trigger on my AR's. I run a Geissele G2S on each of them. I like to be able to 'take up the slack' feel it hit the wall and then know it is about to break with just a little more pressure for precision shots. Plus the added safety of the trigger pull being a bit longer. For shots where you are quickly 'tapping' the trigger it helps to make for a clean trigger break as well, as you already have a bit of momentum. My triggers are non-adjustable and maintain a reasonable 'hunting/self defense' trigger break weight. Just my preference.

I prefer the straight/flat CMC but 2.5lb on a hunting rig-- I only have one AR rifle left with a two stage (and it is still a FLAT) but it is buttery- geissele SD3G.
My bolt guns are all flat TT Specials
