I had a New Mexico cow elk hunt booked for this weekend for my 18year old nephew. Well, New Mexico Governor just "shut down" entire state. Anyone know of any Colorado cow elk hunts for this weekend?
Boy is a teenager, his father passed away. I want to take him to get a cow elk. He has never seen snow, never seen Rocky Mountains.

In CO you will have to call ranches that have LO tags.
Try calling epic outdoors, they maybe able to send you to right ranch. I’d tell them the situation. They have a ton of connections

https://cpw.state.co.us/Documents/Leftover.pdfThere are a few leftover cow elk tags for the 4th rifle season (11/18-11/22). Limited to just a few units left with public land tags. Looking through them and at public land access, I would go for unit 181 outside Kremmling, CO. Hunt number EF181O4R, there are 28 tags left as of this morning.

Don't let the Governor ruin your NM hunt. I have traveled to NM probably 30 times since March. They aren't "tracking" who is crossing the border, and nothing says "Social Distancing" like a good elk hunt. Just don't plan on being able to eat in at any restaurants.
You did what?

I had an elk hunt in NM it states you quarantine for 14 days - meaning you go to your outfitter's place stay there for the duration and don't go anywhere else. You're in compliance and not spreading any potential virus to anywhere/anyone

Outfitter says he must cancel.... Not by Executive Order. This is a guide from the major shutdown in March. The Executive Orders are not different for this one. Sounds like your outfitter just doesn't want to take you hunting. https://www.nmoutfitters.com/coronavirus-resource-page.htmlNo one abides by the quarantine rules. It's not like you are checked. You drive in, you hunt, you leave. There is a MAJOR deer rifle hunt going on right now. Do you really think that all of the NR's are staying in NM for 14 days?

If the guide has to cancel that's one thing. I think he could have got away with it, but he may have family that is high-risk that he cannot chance giving COVID. I also think he should reschedule you to next year, unless he provided a full refund of his fees (or you haven't paid yet) and covered your State Tag fee as well, because that is usually non-refundable.
I'll be driving across New Mexico next week. Not expecting to do anything but maybe get some fuel along the way to my Arizona elk hunt.
@TakeMeLord - did you look into the Colorado leftovers I posted about?
