The Death of the Marlboro Man

He was a real cowboy who worked every day of his life and was a lot bigger than even Marlboro made him out to be.

The article is about Bigun Bradley who ironically died in a freak accident and not lung cancer.

He was a native son from Old Glory Texas.

The real one died January 14 2015, 85 years old his name was Darrell Winfield and lived on an 80 acre horse ranch in Riverton, WY. He was my dad's cousin and we were family.

Been to his place too many times to count. He was a good man and has a sense of humor.

We miss him.

Long read but a good one. Interesting side note. 'Old glory', was a German community founded in the late 1800s. Originally named, 'Brandenburg'. During ww1 they changed the name to Old glory to show their allegiance to the United states....Now you know the rest of the story.

If I am reading correctly there were several men used over the years. Carl "Big-un" Bradley was found in 1963 and Darrell Winfield in 1968.

Your correct several men had the job over time. Phillip Morris created a iconic American advertising campaign with the Marlboro series. It's identifid world wide and still used in other countries.
Goes perfect in my Man Cave.

Yes, there isn't one "real one." There were several.
