I've actually found them bedded in the stuff this time of year on public land. All dried out, thick, and noisy to move in.

In Texas that’s what we call a c0ck-R-burr. E.g. “That dang fool was jumping around like he had a c0ck-r-burr under his’n saddle when he stepped on that snake.”

I know where there are big acreages covered with them and yes the hog sign is big time in and around em. Wonder if the hogs eat them when they are green
