What is the best protectant to protect damascus knife blades from rusting?

I use a light coat of wd40 or CLP...if it's a knife ya cut food with, then you can use a little olive oil

Any vegetable oil can go rancid if it's a kitchen knife, mineral oil won't and works well. For a hunting knife I prefer Rem Oil myself.

Ill second what Bjan said.. you wouldnt think it but the Carnauba wax... builds up and shines and lasts.

I only build, buy and use damascus, Never stainless steel. I hand wash and dry when used. Then about once a year I clean them up with various products.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.
