Had this guy come in hot on the heels of a doe tonight. It was right at last legal light. He paused long enough for me to see antlers sticking way out on either side of his head. I thought it was the big bruiser that we have on camera. I realized later my mistake. He was chasing that doe and had his ears pinned back, so he looked HUGE with antlers sticking WAY out past his ears! My boy made a great shot. Bullet entered just at the back edge of his lung and came to rest in the hide of the off side neck. He went about 50 yards down the fence line, and tried to jump the fence, but failed. Found him right there. He was still a decent buck, but if I'd have realized he wasn't the big guy, I'd have told him to hold. He will be meat on the table and my boy is ecstatic so all is well. He ended up having a 15" spread. [Linked Image]
