First off, let me say that I don't have the equipment to make the liners with the precision required for everything to line up and work properly. That being said I bought a small liner lock kit and threw away the blade and scales and made my own. I made the blade from a buckshot pattern Alabama Damascus billet and the scales are stabilized spalted maple. It still takes some time to get the blade to fit properly so that it pivots and locks up tightly.
I admire those makers that can make these things from scratch but at the same time it just really ruffles my feathers to see knives that were obliviously made from bought blades and then advertised as custom knives when they are semi custom at best.
I didn't mark the blade since I can't claim sole authorship of it but it's for me and I know who made the blade and put it together.

Mike, any chance I could call you and pick your brain. I've always wanted learn knife making and thought making new scales for a folder kit would be a good place to start. If so, please PM me your number. Thanks.

Pablo

Well Ben I wish that I could make them from scratch but at my age buying a good precise mill just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Thanks everyone. It took me a lot longer than I thought, but I enjoyed doing it.

That is a handsome knife Mike. I agree, would love to make some, one day maybe when I retire... but seeing one of my friends who does, watching him, gives me a headache, lol. Nice job.

Way back when, House of blades bought a bunch of parts from somewhere. I did the exact opposite and bought a couple blades and springs, then built the liners and scales to match.

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason! nidea
