Movement caught my attention about sundown yesterday evening.

Not thirty yards from me, a young grey fox (not much bigger than a kit) was gingerly climbing into a small mesquite to reach the hackberries next door.

All my adult life I've pondered what purpose the Almighty might have had for creating something as worthless as a hackberry. At least now I know one reason...to provide an appetizer for a fox before he left on his nightly search for "field mouse tartar"!

Cool pics! I saw one in the middle of Lubbock last night about 8:30, trotting through a neighborhood. They're neat animals.

Love those little guys. We have one show up in our back yard a couple months ago. I hope he sticks around

Cool little creatures. Some of our guys like to shoot them “To save the turkeys,” but I enjoy watching them. Had one one time sit not 10 yards outside my deer blind and continued to watch me for a good 20 min. Maybe it was the peanut butter crackers confused2

They are very cool little dogs. I spent about an hour with one at a tower site way back in the New Hampshire woods. I just sat on the steps and he hunted the clearing where we parked the truck for mice. He knew I was there but pretty much paid me no mind.

Fox are a pretty independent lot, that's certain. I saw this one the next morning as well...he had to have winded me given the direction he came from. Gave me a good, general ignoring.

Dissed by a small canid. If I gave it some thought, I might have my feelings hurt...

Nah.

There was a grey fox that lived in the Red Raiders stadium.

I had 3 walk thru my food plot Thursday morning and we also have one that stays by our cabin and eats our scraps at night.

I have trouble in the thermal telling if they are young yotes or foxes. Unfortunately, it's kept me from pulling the trigger twice.

Energy company I worked for maintained a house in Jal NM for us corporate folks to stay in while working in the area. For 4 - 5 years there was a fox that lived under the storage shed. We'd see him pretty often while grilling or just sitting in the back tipping a few bears. Often he would come out and hop on top of the storage building and just watch us until twilight, then he was off hunting.

We all need to practice Whoa more.
