Looking for good intro books on where to/how to look for arrowheads. Wasn't a big fan of Bill Colemans book. Any other suggestions?

Not sure about books that tell you where to & how to look for points. Lots of books out there that identify type & age. Most of the time it's just using common sense like
looking in close proximity to water sources (creeks & rivers) I have personally found quite a few on the surface of bare ranch roads & senderos while walking to & from
deer stands. The key there was plenty of bare ground to be able to see them, I know a lot of folks that have found them in plowed fields, I personally have never found
one but it could have been just no artifacts in those particular fields. All I know is in the State of Texas you can pretty much find them anywhere. I've been fortunate enough
to see numerous "collections" over the years that have come from mostly South Texas and they've all been quite impressive

If you find yourself feeling useless, remember it took 20 years, trillions of dollars, and four presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

Sometimes the Universe puts you in the same situation again to see if you’re still a dumbass.

Have found a few over the years. Plowed fields , road grading areas new fence lines, cattle trails, gully and wash areas, points off bluff or hillside. Like others have said look for a water source those were usually areas where they camped.

I have found all these on my east Texas land on a small hill that was a campsite over the centuries. I know it was over a long term because of the different types from different time periods. After you find some or a good hunting spot, the one book on Texas artifacts that you ought to have is the one I have shown. Can be found on Amazon. The posters above have given you good info on where to look. My campsite is about 100 yards from the larger of two creeks on my small property. I have found a lot of pottery shards in the smaller creek when it dries up. The points and various other animal bones and tools, I mostly find by digging only up to about 2.5 feet and then I hit the clay pan. There are multiple artifacts sites on the internet to ask questions and such, one of which is "Texas Chert".
