Went on our annual out of state mule deer hunt on a leftover tag. Wasn’t sure what to expect as it had been very warm and dry leading up to the hunt. Had our fingers crossed that they weren’t going to close down this particular forest due to all the fires breaking out throughout the state. About a week before season, the extended weather forecast was looking promising with 20+ inches of snow expected in the high country. A couple days into the hunt we had plenty of snow and great hunting conditions. With the deer moving to lower elevation in a hurry, we found an area they were using pretty heavily. Thanks guys! The highlight of the hunt was getting my 12 year old nephew his first mule deer. He’s been looking forward to being able to hunt with us out of state.
