We had a real good opening day on our NXTx lease. We have killed bigger bucks before but these two represent a great opening day. One is real wide and one is real tall. Curious which one yall would shoot if they were both mature and standing in front of you. The wide one was on a age/score thread from a little while back. Even though we have lots of cameras out for years, the tall buck had never been seen on camera or in person before he was killed. Also feel free to have fun guessing what each one scores. Even though our hunters kill Management bucks, we really like getting our kids on those bucks so I included a pic of one from the weekend. [Linked Image]

Very nice bucks! I'm a sucker for a tall rack and will usually pick that over wide. However, that wide one is tall enough that I would definitely pick him.

How did you support the deer in the second pic to stay up for pics?

Yep, walk-in cooler. Works great. Allows you to take pic at convenience and with proper sun. You can get their legs under them and really helps keep their neck and head up instead of the neck scrunched down into shoulders like a linebacker.

I appreciate you sharing your cooler secret. Very cool. But carrying them all the way out to the tank as a backdrop for pictures? That's waaay too much work for me. Pretty, but no. 'Never got that whole tank-in-the-background thing.

If both were there for the shot, I’d take the tall rack every time...there is just something about a tall tined rack that I love up beautiful bucks, congrats to the hunters

I would be very happy with either one. I’d shoot the wide one and then most likely wish I had shot the tall one.

Great looking bucks. But I would not shoot either one of them if I had chance at other bucks. I prefer narrower bucks but do not like lopsided tine length bucks. I prefer real estate to airspace. grin
