Depends. If your retired more is better because your circulation isn't what it was. For me, anything with Goretex and 650 to 750 grams of Thinsulate does fine here in the Texas CrossTimbers.

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason! nidea

We need to know the expected temperature range. 1000 grams of Thinsulate should be good down to -10 F.

I grew up in Vermont, not Alaska, not Siberia, because thats another level. Brought my Muck boots to Texas and I can't hardly wear them because my feet melt. I think I've worn them twice in 10+ years. Coldest I've been in is -50 I think. It also depends if you're doing anything in them or just wanna stay warm.

^^This. Heavy and not that good for walking any distance. I have a pair and use them for snowmobiling and ice fishing. Ice fishing can be an 8 or 10 hour day essentially sitting still with your feet in contact with an ice sheet at temps of -30 or the odd time even -40. They do the job in those conditions.

Don’t excoriate me for this but I have tried all the thinsulate, goretex, etc .. high end hunting boots even with electric socks and have always had miserably cold feet which is not a good feeling, last year my wife bought me a pair of UGG boots, not the kind the girls wear but a hiking style lace up, they are really light and comfortable, I wear very thin socks and my feet have never been cold in them , I swear by them, guys at the lease had a few laughs at my expense but my manhood is intact and I have warm feet.

I've has a pair of insulated Red Wing work boots since the 80's. Used to use them when I was in construction in Chicago. Now only wear them hunting or motorcycling. Cold enough for Chicago winters, they are more than enough for NTX.

The warmest are Pac Boots typically used in heavy snow areas, but they are a bit much for Texas.

Here, wear boots about a size larger than normal and wear two pair of thick wool boot socks. Make sure the socks are mostly wool, not a synthetic material and definitely not cotton, and fit loose not tight.

Used the predecessors of these boots in the 60's at Minot AFB ND. Spent many an hour walking through snow and extreme cold, feet were always warm.

Today, I use nylon sock liners with wool socks and loose fitting boots. The Nylon socks wick the moisture off your feet, the wool retain heat, and tight boots cuts down on blood circulation all that helps to keep the feet warm.

I did cold weather training in Wisconsin, and we were issued MM boots. I have zero circulation in my feet and hands so they don't generate ANY heat, but even so, those boots kept my feet comfortable in subzero temps. My three complaints are that they are heavy, clumsy and little traction on ice.

I purchased some 1200 gram Cabela's rubber hunting boots last year which were highly rated, but I sold them after one day of hunting. My feet were cold, and like the MM boots, they were just too heavy and clumsy. You really get a workout wearing boots like those. To add, those Cabela's boots worn by someone with circulation will probably have toasty warm feet.

While stationed in Alaska we were authorized to wear the Danner Ft. Lewis boot. Best boot I ever owned.

Buy you a good pair of polypropylene liners at a ski shop and a medium good wool sock and be done with all of the rest...I coat my feet with a little powder before putting them on.. the key to warm feet is keeping moisture away from them...period...

I have a pair. They are not great for doing a lot of walking but good for sitting. Too warm for Texas. Last time I wore them was fishing in winter.
