I hunt in NW Burnet County on the river. Normally we kill a few pigs in the spring but this year we see pigs on at least half the hunts. We saw a few in deer season after killing 36 in 2018. We obviously have had a population explosion. Anyone else?

I haven't seen that level of explosion, but it doesn't surprise me. If you're trying to knock down the population effectively see about getting someone with cell traps to come through.

I have run into hogs every turkey hunt I've been on this year with one exception. Cooke, Grayson, Fannin counties. They are everywhere. In Cooke county I had 4 separate encounters in one morning.

It is going to interesting to see the impact they have on the turkey population. I can't imagine how many nests will be destroyed by ferel hogs in Menard County just this spring. While we had a good hatch last year and on track to have a good one this year, we will see.....
Has anyone ever done a study on this???

Our turkeys this year are lowest ever and hogs everywhere it seems. Only seen 2 hens all season! We did kill two toms but none others seen. Sucks! A hog walked into my setup at noon! Walked up on a sounder within yards of them while turkey hunting!! Montague county. Few years ago I would see turkey everywhere on our place. Called close to 10 in one day and would see 20+ and now nothing.

Every landowner we trap pigs on reports more turkey sightings within months of us removing entire sounders (cell traps). Find a local guy with a cell trap, he'll trap for free (we sell the pigs live to help pay for the hobby). Keep him on a rotation to come back through every other month or two or when you see more pigs. Pigs generally move on a 30-60 day cycle, I.E. they roam about their home range (can be 4-5 square miles). Soon as you remove a sounder another will move in. I guarantee you'll have more turkeys.

We use dogs and Boar Buster traps which are extremely effective but there is no control on most of the ranches here. The ranch I hunted this morning for hogs, in years past would have 800 birds roosting around the house in winter months and now it is 300-400. We killed 6 hogs including a monster boar with really big cutters and saw almost as many that didn't get caught. We flew this ranch twice in the last six months and killed approximately 160. It seems when we kill a hog here, two more move in from the neighbors.

Another good reason to rid the world of those foul nasty beasts

Well I guess I need to find someone in Anderson county and Kinney county who can come out with cell traps. We're trying to manage for turkey on a co-op northeast of Palestine, and on a small place we have north of Brackettville. We're over ru with hogs in both areas and I'm certainly not interested in swapping the turkey population for more hogs.
