Who's so busy this year they will take the first legal deer that walks out? My son will. He only gets to hunt with one time this year and I told him he can take the first good one that gives him a shot.

During bow season I had two different bucks within 18 yards and didn't pull the string- one I felt was only 2-12 and had next to no G3's and the other looked to only be about 3-1/2. Both were legal but not what I felt like taking...if they are the only bucks I see for the rest of the season I am fine with that.

For my 13 year old daughter this weekend, the first group of does that comes out will most likely get taken for some freezer meat. She wants to take another doe.

my son passed on a few opening weekend of bow. My granddaughter took a 9 point with a crossbow, I passed on a few. He gets one hunt during bow and one during rifle because of his schedule. I hope a big boy comes out for him or at least a good doe. I got 4 does with my bow and crossbow. I won't rifle hunt until December.

First 8”+ spike will go down, we have plenty of 1 1/2 year old deer so it is another deer for the freezer. Also my wife wants to give some meat to a friend and they can’t have any Axis meat so ...

I plan on taking a doe before the november deal ends, unless a spike or a good buck presents the opportunity

On my place I am down to a spike only under AR...got my 13"+ buck and 2 does all with archery in the past 3 weeks. Still got my other place to hunt but it won't get good till after Thanksgiving or into December. First hog that shows up this weekend is going to die and then all the others I can get the crosshairs on will die.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

This isn’t exactly the same, but I always shoot the first deer that comes out that really gets my heart racing and adrenaline flowing. Never shot a a huge deer but I’ve shot a lot of really nice deer using that method

I'm fortunate enough to have plenty of time to hunt during the season, so for November I'll only take a Personal Best for that particular property or a buck that is "special" for some reason. Once December rolls around I lower my standard a bit.
Sounds similar to some people's theory at the local bar, hmmmm.

The landowner wants a deer so the first doe or spike that steps out will hopefully end up in an ice chest. I won't be as eager to burn my wide-rack tag unless I see the bruiser that I caught on camera a few weeks ago.

I got a nice 10 last year. I won't shoot one smaller than him, until my daughter and son tag one. We have 8 nice ones on camera, mostly at night. But when they start chasing, they should make some daytime appearances.
