Is there a good source of food I could put out for the 6 week gap until dove season reopens on 12/18 that would help attract more birds? I’m in the Houston/Galveston region. I am going to plant something long term for next year but am looking to attract some more currently if possible, and looking for the best approach.

i thought you could plant, but it had to be taken up before the season starts?
off the outdoor annual i go.......
EDIT
It is unlawful to:

hunt migratory birds with the aid of bait, or on or over any baited area;
hunt over any baited area until 10 days after all baiting materials have been removed and a game warden has confirmed removal of baiting materials;
place or allow the placement of bait on or adjacent to any area where migratory game birds could be attracted for the purpose of hunting migratory game birds by any person;

Yes, but what is going to grow and set desirable seed in 5 weeks?
