Exactly

Hopefully the judge makes him pay full replacement cost of a buck that size to the state and it hits his bank account for several thousand dollars!

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

That's the best way I've ever heard it stated.

Idiot!

It will all depend on the judge that presides over the case.

I have two friends that are GWs and some of the horror stories I've heard of what these thieves have done and the little bit they've paid is sickening!

I knew about this story the evening it happened as it was a big source of discussion on a site devoted to East Texas hunting. There were two pictures of the culprit and he is holding the bloody deer up for pictures in his regular clothes, no tag, and no smile on the guys face because he knew he hadn't done something to really smile about.

I just don't understand how someone could put a deer on a wall that wasn't taken 100% 'above board' and be proud of it.

One of the worst horrors is not prosecuting one of their own when caught for third time breaking the law.

I know one county in South Texas where the fine was $100/inch of gross B&C score. I had heard back about 20 yrs ago now of two out of state hunters that got caught trespassing and poaching a 158" gross score buck that cost them $15,800 each plus the loss of their car( a rental for out state hunters also) and firearms. There were other fines also but not sure exactly how much it was total just the $100/inch part I remember. I have heard of other cases were the fines were extremely high and one guy got caught twice in a short time span and supposedly lost his job and retirement benefits. That buck was a 180+class deer IIRC.
