So I am at the hospital visiting a relative and I made a burger run and was coming back in when a couple beat me to the door. He got fast tracked in the facility because of a snake bite...that was causing some serious swelling...which really seemed to impress the nurse that was taking him back.
Remember, snakes may be active any time the weather is above freezing.

Never let your guard down in rattler country.

Never let your guard down in rattler country. Wise words. The She-Wolf and I saddled the horses for a ride this afternoon...and my old .45 sixgun rode on my hip, with the first two rounds up being loaded with Speer shot capsules and all the 7 1/2s they'd hold. Mark

My son and his friends were sitting around our campfire last week when one rattled right behind them. They turned around and saw the barn cat swatting at it making it mad. If it hadn't been for the cat one of them could have gotten up to go in the house and stepped on it.

I've seen them every month of the year here on the ranch.

I've seen them in the winter months as well. They were not that "slow".

At one time, I was butt deep in snakes of all kinds. After awhile, I got tired of killing them. When the hogs took over my place they just about cleaned out the snakes of all kinds. I saw a rattler and also a black snake recently and got excited. I'd rather have the snakes.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

We see them pretty regular throughout deer season.
