I assume it's not a snow goose. That would be too easy.
Years ago, in Gillespie county, Madeleine Stowe/Brian Benben had a place across the road from us. She bought a couple of swans and forgot to clip their wings. We went to the back to fish in the tank, and there they were. Beautiful. I have pictures somewhere. 'Don't know if they went "home". 'Wonder how much they cost her?
I predicted they'd sell in 5 years, when the creek dried up. (It ain't no Napa Valley.) Sho' nuff, they skeedaddled.

A mighty strange bird is the pelican; his beak can hold more than his belly can.

I knew it was a pelican, but only from previous posts. Big Spring seems like such an odd place for those birds. Very cool.

Cool pictures. I was sure it was a Swan. I've never seen a Bellycan in that setting. I've only seen them on large lakes around here.

Do for yourself as much as you can, eat what nature provides as much as you can. This is the key to sleeping well and living long.

We used to feed pelicans drum while fishing for walleye in South Dakota, they would eat so much they could barely get off the water to head back to the nest

They were a common everyday sighting on a ranch in La Salle county. Seen as many as 80 in group one day on a neighbors 80 acre tank.
