After a near miss accident with a big sounder on a five mile night ride back from my set up to camp, I decided I needed more light. I was prolly going too fast on the familiar ranch road and boom, there they were out of the brush and a really close call, nearly ran right into the side of me. I went off the road when I dodged them and by the grace of God held on. So I needed more light. I didn't want to give up too much space on front rack, didn't want to block my radiator and wanted something durable if I was going to go to the trouble do this. Went with Blazer, 8". It's actually < 8 so I found an opening and mounted it as shown. Man, the light this thing puts out exceeded my expectation. The beam looks like 40' x 250'. The mount is solid. Drilled through holes in rack slightly smaller than the fastener so there would be zero slop and doubled up with lock nuts. It actually helps retain that last bag of corn I sometimes throw on the front rack.

Another gain on visibility at night was to actually wash my existing lights. I keep my machine reasonably clean, but don't think I had ever actually put some glass cleaner to the lamps. Lesson learned.

I have that very same light, or one that looks like it, and it does put out a beam, for sure. It is mounted on an overhead cross bar on my Commander and it lights up the countryside!!!

Thanks. The key to this is to get your through holes spotted correctly, and to drill them slightly undersized to remove any slop.
