I don't shoot them before every hunt but certainly before the season starts and any time I feel I may need to throughout the season.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

'Shot the .280 and .338 last week, in prep for the elk hunt. I thought the .280 was somewhat off, judging by where I hit on some does I've taken (MLD). I was right. 'Glad I did.

The neighbor said he's "heard some shooting" when he called me a few weeks ago. His house isn't that far from mine. I hope he enjoyed the .338. grin I've yet to light off the .416 out there.

Took a couple of mine out two weekends ago to make sure they were still on target.... even though I shoot hogs with them year round I always double check before deer season.

if you don't shoot it in it means you don't practice. If you don't practice, then you get what you deserve.

Nope. I only shoot to kill.

hahahaha

Come on now Hudbone.
I've had enough practice the last 52 years to pick up a rifle that is zeroed and put the bullet where it needs to go!
rifle cheers

One more ^

I check zero regardless of what's gone on
because you absolutely DON'T know for
sure you're on unless you shoot. If you
don't know for sure, you shouldn't go hunting

Even though I shoot year round, I still try to check zero on each rifle that I will hunt with before I hunt with it that season. Typically, no adjustment necessary.

I shoot pretty much year 'round so I don't foresee any issues.

I do, all year long.

For you guys who don't shoot a lot, here's a trick. Ten years ago when I sighted my rifle in last I took a 2 poster board targets and a bore sight laser. I made a red mark where the laser hit the poster board and moved the crosshair to it at 25 yards. I fired 1 round down range at the red mark then moved my crosshairs to the POI and fired another round to test for a dead on 25yrd zero to get on paper. I put the laser back in to see where it hit the target at 100 yard and made a red mark, fired another round and moved the crosshairs to the POI. Then I put the laser back in to see where it hit, and made a green mark on the target. (I did do this with a rangefinder and at 100 yards i'm 1" above bullseye, it takes a few shots.) Now to test before a hunt, I put the laser in to hit the green mark, the crosshairs should line up on my last POI (1" above bullseye bullet hole). This gives a point of reference of where the muzzle is pointed on the paper and lets you know if your scope is still lined up with your desired POI. Keep the target in the gun case for reference. This is just something me and a buddy decided to play with because of a missed shot and being too cheap to use ammo at the range. Hope this is useful for some of you.

I shot mine this past week end and one out of a new box. Just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling each year before the season starts.

I hunt year round with the same old Remington VTR 308. Pigs, exotics, whitetail, and varmints.
I check it about once a year. In the last 8 years I have only ever changed it a click or two.

You owe it to the animals to make sure your gun is on. At least that's one factor out of the way. I sight in just before season, which I've already done.

I have trust in my rifles.

Only one I will shoot To confirm zero is my .300 which flew back with me across the Atlantic.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.
