Drove to Wyoming for a Pronghorn hunt with my youngest.

Blue skies when we arrived but knew there was going to be weather coming in. Snowed that night. Got to the unit at daybreak following snow plows all the way. Probably not the brightest thing to go hunting in those conditions but not going to sit in the Motel after that long drive.

Spotted some pronghorns right away but weather took a brutal turn for the worst. Couldn’t see much past 20 yards and barely made it back to motel.

Next morning roads were closed but opened by noon. We went back out for a quick hunt knowing we had to leave next morning because more bad weather was on the way.

Spotted some bands of Pronghorns and managed to put on a few stalks and take two of them and get out before we froze to death. My fingers are still a little numb as I type this but an awesome hunt with my youngest. My son didn’t see a buck big enough so he decided to take a doe. In hindsight I probably should have done the same.

Awfully cold for some Texas boys.

My son was able to take this doe and I managed a smallish buck.

Probably because we have more pronghorn than people and plenty of public areas to hunt them.

You missed the big part of the storm, it's really cold this morning -6. We also got about 10 inches of snow here in Laramie.
Roads opened back up yesterday.

Build those PP until you get about 3-4 for a better area.

Congrats on your take, I know how it feels to hunt in that kind of cold, guts feel great on your hands !

Congrats. I like the later season for pronghorn. It's not as hot and there's nobody else out there, mostly. Next year I can either draw on my own with 13 points or go with my son for an average of 7.5. I don't think he's playing football next year so that frees him up. I expect we will draw next year, but then, I expected we would draw this year.

Thanks!

Wytex is right (of course). We definitely didn't see any other hunters and lots of Pronghorns!

Yes, happiness is a warm gut pile on days like that. We are definitely going back next year.

That storm chased us all the way through Colorado.
