Now the wife is finally Ok with my having spent considerable money on that AR. I used a red light to see the deer at the feeder, but it was a big hog instead. With the wife saying “you better not miss this one”, I grabbed the AR, turned on that red gun light and parked one in his ear. Popped him a couple more times just for good measure. He’s a real smelly beast.

Pictures tomorrow to impress my brother and Grandson.

65 gr Sierra GK at about 2800 FPS.

I just bought a tcr22 off the classifieds here. I was pretty happy with my purchase. Discussed the purchase with my wife, and she got all upset. "What are you doing buying a .22? We can't kill anything with that. You need to be buying another AR. That's what you get for teaching me about guns!" Lol.

The dead hog is still under the feeder. The trusty feeder fed on top of the hog, and here came 5 deer for a little breakfast. Four of them held back as the big lead doe investigated. She snorted and stomped for a while, but the hog continues to play possum. The deer finally left, disappointed I assume.

I’ll move the hog after my coffee. He will next become coyote bait.

I'm sort of with Pig_Popper on this one. It's nice to have a supportive spouse, but without any 'What if I DO miss?" issues.

It sounds like you resolved the issue to everyone's satisfaction, though. Good work.

Well, the “miss” thing goes back a few months. There was a whole sounder of hogs in the yard. I grabbed the bolt action 223 and plugged one hog. He ran off and I found him later, but she was fussing about me having missed. I didn’t miss, but she thought I did. She hates hogs in the yard because it keeps ‘her’ deer out of the yard.

That same sounder of hogs, and me only killing one of them is what got me to finally buy an AR. The wife said “you only shot at one”, which was true. After that first shot they were hauling tail. I said to her that if I had an AR I might have gotten one or two more. And she said for me to get one. Ok, only need to hear that once. As you AR guys know, you can maintain the sight picture during recoil.

The wife has never hunted. Her idea about it is that you shoot and a pig dies every time, right there on the spot. Bang...thump...though it isn’t always that way.

Tell her if she wants bang, thump every time, and for you to get 2 or three, that you need a semi auto 50 BMG. See if she still says to go get one.

You are wise. When the wife says "Get another gun" one should never argue.

My spouse is the same. I do nothing to disabuse her of that notion.
Every hog dies instantly, without pain or suffering. They never know what hit them. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it…
