I don't trust these outfits that say 'full', 'extra full' and so on. You don't really know what the bore is. Carlson's shows bore diameter on all their chokes.

Easily the best chokes for the money.

The Carlson's .690 Extra Full Sporting Clays is my choke tube of choice for 00/000/Tri-Ball buckshot in the 870s, and the Carlson's .685 Extra Full Sporting Clays is my choke tube of choice for 00/000/Tri-Ball buckshot in the Benelli Novas and Supernovas.

Good choke tubes.

Do you use a full choke with buckshot?

I've thought of taking some buckshot in my backpack while turkey hunting, because I often encounter hogs during turkey season (and usually wind up wounding rather than killing them with #4 shot). However, I'm not sure that shooting 00 buck out of an extra full choke is a good idea.

I shoot 3 1/2" magnum 00 buck in an extra full choke. It kicks like a mule but packs a hell of a punch.

One of my Benelli Novas with a .685 Carlson's Extra Full choke tube will put all 18 pellets in a Remington 3 1/2 inch 00 load into 16 inches at 40 yards, and the pattern is right on top of the bead. You put the bead on the deer's heart, send it, DRT.

Cripples on one end, kills on the other lol.

I use the choke that gives me the tightest pattern at 30 yards. It's usually my IM, but on one of my shotties, the Full does best. You just have to experiment until you find the one that gives you the best pattern at the ranges you'll be shooting.
