We saw him in Gruene Hall, the Chilli Cook offs, and multiple other places around San Marcos and Austin. I went to watch Garry P Nunn at Shiner Sunday's at Love and War in Texas at Plano. Not many people were there. We sat at a picnic table with Garry P, Brian Burns and Tommy Alverson drinking beer and listing to good music. I asked about JJW and they had some cool stories to tell. It was one of the best Sunday afternoons.
There's not many artists that just have that "something special" sound, and JJW was one of those to me. There's too many songs to list on which one's I like. Man, he'll be missed!

After all my travels in the hill country and trips to Gruene hall I always figured I'd see him there, nope. Met him and shook his hand at 'Stans blue note', in Dallas, when I lived on lower Greenville Avenue back in late 90s. RIP Ol' pard.

Next few years we'll start seeing many more of our memories die off, I don't like growing old.
R.I.P. Yep, it's just begun!.....So sad, but it's been a good ride!

Got drunk with him one night in Waco back in the late 90's. He was a character and had lots of cool stories to tell.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.
