Thanks. I'm glad you like them.

I'm not a professional, I only do this for fun, and to share what i see.

It makes my day when someone likes my photos, you could say, that is my pay.

Mmmmmm. could be a poem in there somewhere. LOL

Alberta is awesome! People are great. I "worked" in Edmonton and Ft Sask. 2006-2014. A work friend hunted Peace River. I never got much further north than Redwater but did travel west on the Yellowhead toward BC. Unbelievably beautiful country. I hunted WTD south of the airport around Pigeon Lake.

That's great Deer country down there. Pigeon Lake is about 8 hours south of me.
I have a BIL who farms south of the lake, lovely rolling hilly country.
He's right next to Mound Red Park, which is south of Ma-Me-O beach

Were you hunting west of Millet or further south?

If you do, stop by for a visit. My wife is from Maryland, she'd love to have someone from her country stop for a visit and so would I.
I worked as a big game guide years ago and made a lot of friends from south of the border through that. A couple keep in touch to this day.

I live in Hawk Hills Alberta, which is about an hour north of Peace River town. We are in the heart of the boreal forest. Not a lot of farm land, but hundreds of thousands of square miles of forest and swamp.

That was planted. Canola is bad for volunteering but most of the time farmers spray the volunteer growth so it won't compete with or contaminate the current crop.

Yesterdays photos were from years past so today I'd like to add a few taken this year.

I try to include photos that show the country around here but I don't have a lot that do. Most of my photos are of wildlife and don't show much background.

Young Bear in my yard
[Linked Image]

It's called a Mealy Primrose and it grows on damp ground. It's tiny so easy to miss, but awesome on close inspection.
[Linked Image]

Red-wing harassing a crow near it's nest. The Blackbirds nest that is
[Linked Image]

Raven Chasing an Eagle. A dangerous game. One mistake and that Eagle will take revenge.
[Linked Image]

Bald Eagle. Here they scavenge and hunt Geese. On the west coast they specialize in fishing.
[Linked Image]

Canada Goose family. This is nesting grounds for Canada Geese, Sandhill Crane and Trumpeter Swan. Plus hundreds of smaller birds.

We were on/around hwy 13 to Winfield. We stayed at Hidden Springs off RR32. Not far from the lake.

So you were west of Westerose.

So you were only a few miles from my BIL then. He'd be east and south of where you hunted.

I used to fish twin lakes quiet often. It's a few miles west of Hidden Springs and just south of the highway. There used to be some good sized pike in there.

Hidden springs wasn't there when I lived in that area but I did have dinner there a few years ago, while visiting my BIL.
Beautiful place.

It can seem that way at times. But it can also seem quiet baron of life. Especially in winter.

Keep in mind, each photo represents many hours of searching and watching. And these days, a lot of driving.
I can't walk far these days. My lungs are damaged, I have diabetes and I had a heart attack last winter that I am still recovering from.

over 66 years of living here has given me an idea where to find subjects. That helps a lot.

For wildlife viewing spring is always the best, but it can be chilly at times. We usually get at least one snow storm in May.

July tends to be hot and dry, by our standards, you might find it very comfortable.

A friend of mine runs a guest ranch just south of Peace River town.

If that would interest you his web site is called Peace River Cabins & Outdoors.
