Are wood ducks good eating?
I've never ate wood duck, let alone any duck. Our lease pond is covered with woody's, I might get a duck stamp and go after them this year, good idea? Bad idea?

I've always heard they are some of the best. I'm not a big duck hunter, but I have went out a few times and killed a few. Always diver ducks on the coast, red heads & blue bills. Marinated them and grilled them, they were pretty good.

Hang for three or four days at 55 degrees if the intestines aren't breached. Then pluck and draw them. Save heart, liver and gizzard. Brine them if you want. Cook to med rare at most. If fat is orange skin and use for sausage but I expect woodies aren't eating a lot of bugs so fat should be white or yellowish.

No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.
