What do y’all think is going on with this deer? Do y’all think it’s possibly a stag. Body size is big for a doe. I have seen this deer every sit during this bow season and it’s still full velvet. We have no history with this deer ever.

I’d say stag. Especially if you are in the hill country

So next question. I have to assume this deer would still be tagged as a buck? On a deer like this, would you shoot it or see what it would do in another year or 2? Or do stags not drop and regrow new horns. I have no clue about stags never encountered one before I’d say stag. Especially if you are in the hill country And yes we are in Mason

We hunted in Mason for years. Mason, Llano and Gillespie counties are known for them. We would kill one every couple of years. They are bucks, so tag them as such. They don’t drop their antlers best we could tell. Their antlers tend to get kind of freaky looking if they live long enough. The beauty of them is they tend to be like big fat does and eat great.

I killed one in Mason year before last and was told by the biologist that they don't shed their antlers and they don't loose the velvet. Mine was one of the best tasting white tails I have had. They also don't breed.
