My mom's birthday is coming up, she wants a good set of steak/kitchen knives. I've looked at so many my brain is scrambled. Any recommendations?

I'm not particular about my steak knives but butcher knives are a different thing. I use these.

I don't use a steak knife with most of my meals. Tonight was cheeseburger night for me, then chicken night, etc.

I'd normally never recommend Cutco knives but we got a set of their steak knives for a wedding gift and they are pretty darn good steak knives.

We have a set of knives from Wusthof that are really good.

We got some Cutco table knives and they are really good too. Table knife meaning they are used for cutting food, they are really good at meat.

I have had some cheaper knife sets and the Wusthof were a major step up. The Cutco knives are on par with the Wusthof, to my surprise.

Go to Jantz Knife Supply https://knifemaking.com/products/jantz-steak-knives?_pos=1&_sid=c590be08d&_ss=r You can buy a set of blanks, and add your own own scales to them. Plenty of YouTube videos on how to do this.

My kitchen knives are Henckels. I`ve probably used a fillet knife more than ay other knife. Some friends used a electric knife. They simply slowed me down.

If she won’t keep them out of the dishwasher then don’t spend too much. We have a set of hinckels blades, including steak knives, that work really well. They make a German and a Spanish made offering.....one is cheaper....you can guess which.

There used to be a guy that sold new Old Hickory knives at the Old Security flea market.
You could probably put a pretty good set together in or close to your budget.
