I’m a fan of accubonds.

I’ve killed two aoudad and an elk with 110 grain accubonds from a .257 wby and a sable, waterbuck and gemsbok with them from my .300. Wife shot a kudu and zebra with accubonds in 7mm.

Performance is textbook.

Only thing I’ve shot personally with the eld-x is a pig but from what I’ve heard performance on game is kinda sporadic.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I’ve shot around 20 animals with the 143 ELDX. Every animal recovered, many didn’t go far. However, I’m leery of their performance on larger animals. The biggest piece of bullet I found on my 2020 antelope was about 35 grs. The bullet dumped all its energy but it looked like I’d hit him with buckshot. For an elk I’d go with the Accubond.

Just to update this thread. I ended up using the 160g Accubonds. My shot was angle corrected to 342, I think the los distance was around 430 something shooting down at around a 45 degree angle.

The aoudad was quartering to and I shot it just in the chest just inside the near shoulder and the bullet ended up staying in the body. He hunched up really hard and tried to run but only made it 15 yards or so into some big rocks. When I was able to reach him he was still alive but wasn't going anywhere. I'm happy he didn't run because there was no blood trail due to bullet placement and no exit. Thanks for the help guys.

Congrats, glad it all worked out.

Did you recover the bullet? How far did it go, where did it wind up?

I get that it didnt pass through, but was it in his nose, off side shoulder, or under the hide on the off side but cheek?

I think the bullet stayed inside the body cavity. I actually had a hard time finding the entry wound until after it was skinned. The bullet entered the animals left side of his chest and I didn’t find the bullet under the hide. I thought about opening him up and looking for it but ultimately decided I didn’t want to open up an animal with a bullet in his guts.

Thanks for posting, I always like digging up bullets if they don't exit would have loved to seen it and what it went through if you had found it.

I guess I'm weird I have a cup of various bullets on my loading bench recovered from game and various backstops etc.

A little off topic, but since you took a nice one I thought I would ask: "how do you like eating aoudad?" I know a lot of people claim to have an issue with eating aoudad (personally, I've never had an issue with it), so I thought I'd see where you stand on the topic.

I actually haven't had any yet. This is my first aoudad and I haven't had the chance to cook any of it yet.
