Imagine having a feeder barrel with over 300 pounds of nice, fresh corn. Fresh corn that hasn't been getting spread for several days. None on the spinner plate. So you dump all that corn into buckets and bags and find the culprit.

Don't tape your spinner instructions to the lid of your barrel--ask me how I know!

Ha - a few years ago I had a feeder stop slinging even though it was full of corn. I did the same thing, emptied it out and found a napkin at the bottom of the corn. Never figured out how it gone in the hopper - could have been a prank or a disgruntled employee at the feed store - who knows - but it caused a major amount of work from me.

That danged corn is heavier when you have to put it back too.

I always pull the string and plastic strips completely off of the bag and drop in mule bed before I dump the corn in.
I had a friend helping me fill one day and he insisted on pulling the string almost to the end and leaving it on the bag.
One of the strings and strips went into barrel with the corn and we didn't notice it.
It's kinda amazing just how tangled that string and plastic strips can get if the spinner has a good head start and spins up completely before the string gets sucked into it!!
Of course, the critter cage made extracting the string and strips a whole other adventure.

Cheers,

I had just refilled my 350 lb feeder when a week later hurricane Harvey came to town. Two little 1/8" holes in the lid of the feeder dribbled enough water into the corn bed that it solidified like plaster. What a stinky mess. Would'a made good catfish chum.

Had that happen to one of my full feeders and according to the camera, it stopped working 2 days before the season opener. ruined that spot for the season and had to pull the feeder over after season and let the hogs eat. bang

Winning comment! LOL

If you find yourself feeling useless, remember it took 20 years, trillions of dollars, and four presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

Sometimes the Universe puts you in the same situation again to see if you’re still a dumbass.

Found my uncle's feeder not working earlier this year. Took the mech off and discovered the tear-off strip from the top of a feed bag clogging up the funnel. Easy fix, but I had warned his son about opening the feed bags on top of the feeder due to the possibility of just that happening.

Tolerance is the virtue of a man without conviction.

The end of the world began the day it was created, and life is a sexually transmitted terminal disease.
