These are the most efficient killers of the avian world I’ve ever seen. Devastating to quail, but you have to admire their tactics and abilities.

That is a Kestrel and the first one I have had a chance to photograph. They are very small...dove size small. I believe they are one of or if not the smallest falcons. They mainly feed on insects, small rodents and small birds. Never seen one catch or eat a quail. I have seen Cooper's Hawk(we called them Blue Darters) and Merlins catch and eat quail, doves and even Cardinals.
