So I’m going to buy a 270 and found the following three used rifles that I’m considering. Which one would you pick and why?

Tikka T3x blued
Savage 116 Weather warrior stainless-most expensive
Remington 700 SPS Stainless- cheapest

I like the idea of stainless, but it’s not a deal breaker.

I would pick the Savage. Remington, you could get a good rifle, or maybe not. Quality on Remington has tanked the last few years. Tikka I have no experience with other than handling them in the store. They seem like good rifles, and lots of guys on here swear by them. I have always passed them up because the magazine space is limited. That may seem ridiculous, but that has been my reasoning. I have owned multiple Savages. My BIL owns savages, and I have done some scope mounting and sight in work for multiple friends Savages. I have yet to have met a savage that was not a shooter. You would be good with the Savage or the Tikka, but I would pick Savage.

Tikka T3x hands down is my favorite. I've had the T3 in 270 for 6 years. The original stocks were crap, but the T3x stock is nice. I put a Leupold VX-6 3-18X50 scope on mine. I love it!!!
I have a T3x in 6.5 CM. It shoots great too! I also have a Tikka T3 CTR in 260, a T3 in 308 and T3 in 300 Winmag. I use the 5 round mags except for the CTR and I've never had a problem with any of them.

God bless John Wayne!

I wouldn't buy a used Remington, you'd likely be buying somebody else's problem. Flip a coin on the other two unless the Tikka is much cheaper.

I’ve owned many Tikka and Savage as well as a few Remingtons. Although I currently own a Savage weather warrior I would still pick Tikka first every time. It’s as accurate or more accurate than the savage. That’s the last real comparison. Fit and finish is superior, the bolt is was smoother, the trigger is significantly better, it feeds better, and it ejects better. Oh yeah, and 70% vs 90% bolt throw.

Tikka, because I own a T3X (and a CTR) and know it to be a fantastic shooter. The 70° bolt throw is great. The trigger is fantastic and is very easy to adjust.

I had about $1000.00 budget when I bought my T3X. I was after a great whitetail rig I would keep forever and wanted something lighter than my CTR. So, I went with the T3X and put a Bell and Carlson Medalist stock under it. I also added bottom metal from High Desert Rifle Works. After sanding the barrel channel and installing the bottom metal I have one of my favorite rifles. The bottom metal fit perfectly with no modification to the stock at all. It's a great shooter and a dream to carry. Tikka's are great.

Tikka or Savage, I own and like both. You get a great trigger, bolt, and accuracy with either.

I would personally go with the Savage.

As is I would pick the savage. Is going to be a shooter. I have read a several posts talking about weak ejection. I think there is some merit to this but not a deal breaker for me. If I ease the bolt back to catch the empty, it will sometimes flip around and end up laying in the action backwards. If I run the action at normal speed it ejects and feeds reliably.

Tikka-is going to be a shooter. I can’t get past the bottom plastic and would replace it with bottom metal. I have big hands and single feeding at the range in the small ejection port is not ideal for me. Good rifle.

Remington 700 SPS-another good rifle. My preferred action of the three. I will replace the trigger, stock, and if it has bottom plastic, that too.
