I was looking at moon phases for the days I was thinking about taking off a few days from work to bow hunt toward the end of the month. Then off a couple of days opening week of rifle season. Looks to be full moon or near hitting on some of the days I wanted to take off.
I perfer not to hunt with a full moon. With my job I can't always take off the days I want to. But I may try to rig up and work from my deer stand. Have to figure out the Laptop battery charging.
I need to go back and check moon phases and rethink.
Anybody else try to time their days off with moon phase.
Thanks, Billy

I hunt when I can. I like a dark moon, but it’s not always possible with my schedule. Full moon may not be the best time, but you can’t kill them sitting on the couch. Of course, during the rut, all bets are off. I’ll hunt all day, regardless of moon phase.

I dont pay attention to moon with hunting or fishing. I just go when I can. They are going to move and eat every day just like us.

Hunt when I can, but 3/4 moon has historically worked well.

I believe the best time to hunt is when you can. I don't pay attention to moon phases when planning hunts. But I will admit when I am deer hunting during a full moon, it does seem most of the deer activity is at night.

Yeah, when it comes down to it, ya take off to hunt when ya can.
I have about 9 days vacation left. I told my wife today. I was going to use 4 of those days for deer season and the other 5 during the week of Christmas.
This year they made us take half our time off before the 10th of July. I don't have as much time for during season this year.
I am seriously going to try to rig up and work from my deer stand this year. If I had to take a call as loud as I talk I'd run everything of in the woods with a half a mile!!!
Thanks, Billy

There were a couple of years in a row that I saw so much activity on a full moon, that I was convinced that was the best time to hunt. I went so far as to try and schedule my hunts during the full moon. Then I had a couple of dismal hunts on the full moon. That's when I read that deer activity is lower during a full moon. I guess it's possible that deer activity is lower on a full moon, but you never know unless you are out hunting.

When I see a doe feeding late morning, I always look for the moon. If the moon is up they still may be feeding.
But in most cases my hunting and fishing seems to suck during full moon.
Thanks, Billy

I prefer a few days before and after the full moon. They move later a and the big boys seem to be more active. My 2 biggest deer were late morning around the full moon.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I have been lucky during a full moon...hunting generally when the moon is coming up and when the moon is straight up and when the moon sets. So...during a full moon....the moon comes up at 18:00 and sets around 09:00..I think...I love to hunt in the morning of a full moon...I also believe you can hunt during moon up and every four hours thereafter...even fishing I go by this and barometric pressures. I don't know when it is best, but I have been lucky hunting a full moon.

If you have the flexibility to schedule your time off just a couple weeks ahead of time, I'd much rather plan my hunts around drops in temperature since that has always seemed to be the most consistent predictor of more movement and activity (outside of the rut of course).

I’m a fan of hunting in cold weather also. Seems like they move more when it’s cold and crisp. Add the rut to that and I’m happy.
Not my monkeys, not my circus...
