Ahi Tuna - lovey it. When prepared correctly, may well be the best consumable flesh on the planet

That looks great I’ve made that several times. It’s a big hit.

When I still worked the principals were building a house on the Big Island. On the trips back to S.F. we always got Seared Ahi. Wow, what good eating.

Let me see if I have this correct, you cook your rice and cabbage, but not your fish? I have never worked up the nerve to try sushi but I have a son and daughter-in-law that love it. I will work on it.
I grew up eating very well done steaks with ketchup, I knew no other way. Since looking at the steaks on here, I have backed way off on the overcooking. I have worked my way backwards to medium-rare to very medium-rare and sop it in the natural juices. Needless to say my ketchup use had really gone down in a major degree.

Abilene ain't exactly the Mecca of seafood; it's a long way to get off-shore.

Dam't, I am CRAVING some salt water in my veins and some fresh caught tuna now more than ever!

SB is on point:

Once the fishing was over & we started moving again, it was sushi time. Fresh sushi & fresh ceviche is hard to beat. I miss those days.

I broke my kids of this at a very young age. The rule was: If they'd never had it and say they don't like it, I'd make them eat whatever I put on the plate or I took something of value to them for a week. If they ate as least 2 bites (real bites) and said they didn't like it then I would say fine you don't have to eat it.

Now they at least try almost anything. Put a hurtin on my weekly sushi bill though.

Since cooking over fire we stopped dying in out 30's and 40's.from internal critters.

I dont think cooking over fire is what extended our life expectancies.

Considering i eat most things severely undercooked and im 34, I guess im about used up.

Fish used for sushi should be frozen first to kill any parasites.
