My Iphone 8(or 7) last night lost all my text history. It also kept showing the text not going through but they were. Anyway, its at the phone doc now and they are trying some kind of reset and that may or may not fix it. If it doesnt work then it may be time for a new one. I WILL get an Iphone if I get a new one and it will be today. My question is if you recommended an Iphone would it be the 12 or 11 or what? I dont usually research stuff like this, I would normally just get the most updated but I have heard sometimes a new new comes out an isnt well received.

I’m going with a 12 pro from a 10r. I personally stay with the even generations since they’re better versions of the odd generation.

If you're saying you're getting it today...it'll be an 11 because the 12's aren't available except to pre-order. They have so many 12's you have to study which one you want and value wise which is needed.

Some one just mentioned the 12 so i had no idea not available. So any issues with the 11? The shop is gonna keep it till tomorrow and maybe they can fix. What they said is what it seems like i hear all the time--"we have never had this happen before..." Anything tech related thats what i get. My daughter comes over to show me something i have a problem with on the computer and shes saying its real easy until she sits down and its the inevitable "never seen THAT before." The phone repair guy was the owner and been doing it forever and says no one he knows has ever seen this particular error code before. Hes going home tonight to research it and said he would have to check with people from " all over the world(his words)".

The queen has the 11 Pro Max. She is very happy with it and has had no issues. She got it the week they were released. I’m up for a new one and have a X. I’ll likely get the 11 Pro Max when I get one. No hurry, I’m happy with this phone. I don’t really want the larger phone and wouldn’t need it if I would just go ahead and get glasses.

If nobody is sure what happened to your messages, it's just as likely to be an account problem (icloud, multiple devices on the same userID, malware, your own mistake, or who knows what else) as it is a phone problem.

If it were me and the phone otherwise works and I wanted a new one, I'd pre-order the 12 pro max.

For the Value definitely go with the 11. Right now AT&T is having a promotion, trade any phone from Iphone 8 on up and get $800 credit towards an 11 or 12.

Not entirely true. The iphone 12 and 12 Pro are already in customers hands. It’s the smaller iphone 12 and 12 ProMax that won’t be available until November. So yeah, the OP could go in and get one of the 2 iPhone 12 models available now.

Big difference between the 11 and 12 is 5G. The 12s are the 1st generation to work on the higher speed networks. You’ll likely have to pay a bit more for service and have to determine if it is available in your area. Lots of info on the benefits/value of 5G out there to see if it matters to you...

That’s interesting. My X kicks over to 5G anywhere it’s available. Them again it may not be getting any of the benefits of it.

I'd get a 12 personally, but not the 12 pro unless you want the better camera

I have an 11Pro and it takes amazing pictures.

I havent shopped at all so ill ask dumb questions. Is there an easy answer to the difference is the "pro" models? I dont want a big phone.

Pro = better camera, more RAM (not storage), and a lightly better display. For most people, iPhone 12 is the sweet spot

12 and 12 pro have a 6.1 inch screen, I'd get the 12 over the 12 pro (only have a third telephoto on the rear cameras over the 12).

The 12 pro max has a 6.7 inch screen. My wife uses her phone instead of a computer for just about everything web related, so I feel like she should have the 6.7, it makes a difference.
