Think the short (non-lazy) answer is yes, but if I've had a Mathews with the same string on it for about 5 years now, shot less than 100 times the past 2 years (had a shoulder injury). Does it need new stringing? I have kept it waxxed well.

Kept inside and waxed well it is probably ok, but I would have it checked out.

If you kept the string waxed then you may just take it to a shop to see how much your strings have stretched if any and have it put back to spec.

Manufacturers recommend you change the string every 3 years or so. Reason, wear, stretching, drying out on the string, serving around where the cam is getting worn, broken internal strings, etc...

Now realistically, its probably fine if you've shot around 100 arrows on it.

I replace the string on my Mathews Bow every 3 or 4 years. Yeah its costs some money but I depend on this bow for hunting. Usually during bow season, I'm by myself. If the string breaks, it could cost me a nice deer or even injure me. I'm not willing to take that chance. I feel the string is a disposable item that needs maintenance and replacement.

Like I said, your string is probably fine, but I'd replace it just out of habit.

I bought my bow used, a Z7, eight years ago. I have no idea how long the strings have ben on it. I know i need to change it out but I keep it waxed and out of the weather when not hunting. Shoots so good each year, I don't have the heart to replace it yet.

You'd be surprised how long the strings last even when people don't take care of them. Most of the time you'll need some serving fixed and twisted back into spec. Factory strings just stretch a lot and you don't realize it until you pay for a custom set and then you'll notice how much better your bow shoots.

I was recently told the string on my new Mathews should be good for 2000 shots. We'll see how long it lasts.
