Hit it last night. Hadn't been in years and years and was quite caught off guard by large it has grown. We brought some Shiner and then found they have a place next store which actually will sell you beer & wine.

We all ordered Sunday Specials. The two women's both got baby backs which came with ranch style beans, green bean casserole, scalloped potatoes and a generous portion of ribs. At a cost of $49,00, Cappy and myself ordered the prime rib with the intention of splitting it. It came with the same sides as the baby backs. Holy Toledo, the portion size of the meat was, frankly, incredible. Not really meant for a single human to consume it at in one setting. We ate our fill and both of us took home enough for a lunch. As a plus, we ended up with the end cut. All in all, quite yummy. have I had better? Yes. Was it worth the drive? Yes.

This photo does not give the magnitude of the meat any justice. I am telling you it had to be at least an inch and a half thick.

Dayum Hudbone that looks great food

I have not been to the Salt Lick in 25 + years, it was good back then and it was out in the Boonies, I bet it has grown up a lot since then?

You almost wouldn't recognize it. There is a vineyard about around the whole property and the parking lot is huge. and of course housing is going up wherever it can.

Its been years for me. I grill my steaks at home but they made a decent chicken fried steak.

We stopped by this summer and I was VASTLY UNDERWHELMED!!! For a family of 4 we dropped almost $200 on just brisket, turkey, and sides and it was well below average. Doubt we will ever go back... now, it may have been due to the Shutdown but the best part of the meal was the spicy bbq sauce.

I feel the same. Great ambiance (at least at the Driftwood location), but the food is average...at best. Lots of great choices for BBQ in the Austin area and Salt Lick isn't one of them.

I felt the same way when I went, I really do think some like it because of the all you can eat option and it's BYOB. So some standards get lowered when all you can eat and BYOB come into play.

Me and a good friend used to go down there in the 90’s...little metal shack with an open pit. Picnic tables and BYOB. Great food, atmosphere, and people....then the lefties from Austin found it and like every single thing else, they f’ed it up.

Went there with my wife a couple years ago. It’s nothing more than an overrated, overpriced Austin wine bar with subpar bbq

I won’t be back.....

Been to the one in Driftwood about 20 years ago and was not impressed with anything there. Went to the one in Round Rock, several years ago soon after they opened, It was for the wife's work Christmas party and was more underwhelmed.
