532-2592 was my grandmothers number. I learned it in first or second grade, and that's was in 1982. ask me what I did yesterday and I would struggle to remember. Crazy how the brain works. That was Kleberg 2-2592 back in the day..................just so you know.

Took me a minute, but I came up with it. 865-2930 was the full number, but locally we just dialed 5-2930. The carrier was Gulf States United and they used UN5-2930 for several years before going to 865-2930.

I haven't dialed one number by number in probably 10 years but i still know my childhood home phone, mom and dad's work phone and my parents and brothers cell phone by heart.
In my adult life i have never had a land line and doubt i ever will.

OX-41001. 2 long, 1 short ring. Party line Ours was a party line also, but we were special as there was only one other house on this line. All the other homes in the neighborhood had three homes connected. JE5-3605. We were in the Poly neighborhood of Fort Worth. Two short rings, a pause and then two short rings. Theirs was three short rings. Boy times have changed. When the street light on the corner came on you could see dozens of kids running in every direction. That was the whole neighborhoods signal to go home for dinner.
