I took my wife hunting this weekend at a good friends a property in Uvalde county. This weekend was about my wife getting in to hunting and shooting her first! She’s got permission to shoot anything from doe to management buck to trophy buck.
First night in the stand she knocks down a good old doe and is ecstatic and emotional about her first kill.
The next morning at the same blind we have a buck in front of us in the dark. Not sure how big he is exactly. Luckly he stays around feeding along the sendero. When it gets shooting like we can finally see how big this buck is and he is built like a tank! Huge body. Good wide 8 point and 5 years old at least. Once we decided he was a shooter he didn’t give us a broad side shot for 30 mins. Finally he stepped out at 110 yards and she shot him walking in to the brush! Perfect shot he dropped in 10 yards.
I’d say she’s hooked now.
This was an amazing weekend in some amazing country!
(Her buck was 220 lbs, 130 1/8in, 5.5years old)
