We have a rather big Hackberry tree behind the house a bit too close and we want it taken down. We found a guy we’ve used some years before, and he’s really good, but I’m wondering what this gonna cost. Any of you have current cost info? The tree is maybe 18” thick at chest high.

it all depends on the height and span across , location and difficulty of accessing.

A couple of months ago we had a tree guy (and his brother) cut down 3 trees, one a very large oak at least 2 ft across. Paid $1,200. He just stopped by as I was trimming one of them and I was glad he did. My neighbor paid that much for 1 tree after calling a tree co. Prices vary so much with this kind of work.

If its by your house and you arent going to cut it down yourself, make sure the person you hire is fully insured, and dont just take their word for it, check it out.

I had a 24-inch (roughly) oak taken down and removed and the stump ground for $900. It was located about 15 ft from my house and 6 ft from a wooden fence.

That is a big hackberry. Maybe you have a legacy and should enter it into a tree contest.

I’m looking at the Hackberry as I drink my coffee. Maybe I overstated the size, so let’s call it 14”. Maybe 16”. It’s a good sized Hackberry.

I just had a 50 year old dying Ash tree removed. It was 40' tall & 24" at the base. Near house & wires so needed extra care bring it down. Tree removal cost $900 & the stump grinding was $175. They did both the same day. This included the haul away & clean-up. Hate that the tree is gone, but they did such a good job, at the end of the day, it was like it was never there.

I need to have a large burr oak removed but would like to keep it for firewood. I'm guessing they might charge more if they don't get the firewood out of it? Any thoughts??

They can stack it up against the stump and burn it if the location is right. Here is one of mine. They had. To load it up and haul it away. There was enough sawdust to mulch all my floe re beds.
