High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Archery like ta take pic's, outa bow range, if they get in range, like ya'll, up ta shooter...
Remember as a kid riding in back seat behind dad, could remove a tin plate laid down
over hole on floorboard, & watch the road speed by, rofl & watchen for deer,
pheasants & such on the long trips ta grandparents & aunts & uncles...
Each deer tis a Trophy...

These are the most efficient killers of the avian world I’ve ever seen. Devastating to quail, but you have to admire their tactics and abilities.

I don’t know the technical name. We call them sharpshins... to see them stalk, flush, and ambush a quail is impressive!

The “hunt” is as follows:
- fly from tall object to tall object, using each as a “tower blind”
- spot the covey
- GLIDE from tall object to a low branch on the closest tree to the covey
- wait for the right opportunity, then let out 3-5 high-pitched screams to flush the covey
- once the covey flushes, pick a bird and follow it until it sets its wings for landing
- the sharpshin will either get them on final descent, or just as they hit the ground.

I have never seen one miss once they make it to the screaming stage. They are CRAZY efficient!!!

It’s a Kestrel.

Sharp-shins are a completely different raptor, though they do look similar.
