 What's wrong with my little dude? His hair started falling out

It happened last year, but the hair grew back in a week or so. This time it started with the one bigger spot on his left rear and now a bunch of smaller spots. Is it a form of mange? Or what? [img] https://flic.kr/p/2jVSJsB[/img]

I should mention he also has a constant smell like a stale cheeto.
Even after a bath. The smell has been going in for about as long as when the first spot showed up

My heeler has all the symptoms you describe. Vet diagnosed him with hypothyroidism. Takes a pill twice a day. Keeps patches of hair from falling out, helps the swelling,weight gain And energy level.

My heeler has all the symptoms you describe. Vet diagnosed him with hypothyroidism. Takes a pill twice a day. Keeps patches of hair from falling out, helps the swelling,weight gain And energy level. I just looked it up, that's nuts. Almost exactly what's going on with him. Going to try to get him in for a vet visit tomorrow.

Does he eat grain and poultry free dog food ?
We switched ours with the same symptoms and it cleared up fast

2 months later, his hair is finally all back. Vet changed up his diet and we put him on one with less filler and more natural stuff. The 'stinky cheeto' smell finally went away after about 2 weeks on the new food. ![[Linked Image]](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50661621841_07a837c762_z.jpg)

I switched my Pointer to Diamond Naturals Grain Free and she looks great.
