I continue to see different bucks visiting my mock scrape, the first one I've created just to see if and how they work. This buck might be a good one to show kids and newcomers as an example where it's too close to call. It might also serve as something to show others as an example of a buck that doesn't reach the lower bar of being acceptable for harvest on a given property.

From that photo, it is too close for me to be 100% positive that the buck is legal. So, I would have to pass.

Because the ears are not in their more narrow "alert" position, I actually believe the buck is legal. Still, he'll get another year should I see him.

Letting him live another year is fine but he is easily legal. Probably 14" or so. This is the one I would prefer to take home in an ice chest.
